Designing an Educational Package of Self-Awareness towards Individual Capabilities and Self-Acceptance based on Choice Theory and Its Effectiveness on Students' Academic Satisfaction

Purpose: The aim of this study was designing an educational package of self-awareness towards individual capabilities and self-acceptance based on choice theory and its effectiveness on students' academic satisfaction.
Methodology: This study was a mixed exploratory study. The research population in the first part of the qualitative stage was research related to the research area, which 19 research were selected as a sample, and in the second part of the qualitative stage were 16 experts were selected using purposive sampling method to determine the psychometric indicators of the educational package. The research population in the quantitative stage was female high school students of Tehran city in the 2023-4 academic years, which 40 students were selected as a sample using a staged cluster sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The research tool in the qualitative part was note-taking of research and the level of agreement of experts with the indicators of the educational package, and in the quantitative part was academic satisfaction questionnaire (Lent et al., 2017). The data of this research were analyzed in the qualitative part by the content analysis method in MAXQDA-2018 software and in the quantitative part by analysis of variance with repeated measures and Bonferroni post-hoc test methods in SPSS-24 software.
Findings: The qualitative findings showed that the educational package of self-awareness towards individual capabilities and self-acceptance based on choice theory was designed for 8 sessions of 60-minute with six main categories and the reliability of the educational package were confirmed. Also, the quantitative findings showed that the educational package of self-awareness towards individual capabilities and self-acceptance based on choice theory increased all three components of students' academic satisfaction, including satisfaction from educational quality, satisfaction from learning and academic achieveemtnt, and satisfaction from assessment and academic achieveemtnt in the post-test stage, and the results were maintained in the follow-up stage (P<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, counselors and teachers can benefit from the aforementioned educational package to improve characteristics related to educationh.
